  richard dawkins revealed that he celebrates christmas on radio four's today programme.. here is is quoted as saying: .

  'i am perfectly happy on christmas day to say merry christmas to everybody,' dawkins said.

  'i might sing christmas carols - once i was privileged to be invited to kings college, cambridge, for their christmas carols and loved it.

  New Study: Mars Once Was Completely Covered in Oceans

  @enoughisenough - Exactly, that is how he did it. In John 2: 19 Jesus predicted that he would provide a sign to the Jews so dramatic, that only God could do it. It was a feat that no one has ever before or since duplicated. In John 10: 17-18 Jesus predicts that he would perform the same feat, although for slightly different reasons.

  The fact that there is no evidence that he resurrected himself.

  @TonusOH - Just pretend that there was evidence for a moment; do you think you would trust Jesus with your eternity? In other words, would a self-resurrection from the dead be enough of a demonstration for you to trust him?

  .........because it would cancel out their "upper & lower class christians" fairy story - aka the anointed & non-anointed.. antitype: the fleshly nation of israel and exodus foreigner converts were participants of the mosaic covenant.. type: christianity - the israel of god ("spiritual israel") and gentile converts became participants in the new covenant..

  SeaBreeze is one of those rare XJWs who are still Biblical literalists.

  To the contrary. I fully intended in never stepping foot in any church again after I left the WT and attended university. Learned how to be able to spot deception, indoctrination, inconsistencies and irrationality a little bit better than before, especially my own. Still a work in progress.

  No, but I geeked out for hours and hours at the British Museum recently. Amazing country with an amazing history. I am from the country of Texas. Dad is Scots / Irish descent from the borderlands area. Ancestors sometimes were on the side of England, sometimes Scotland - depending on which way the winds were blowing from what I understand. Mom is Sicilian.

  BTTT - So, here's a question: If it is not hypocritical to celebrate God's birthday while saying to yourself that he doesn't exist, what is an example of hypocrisy that an atheist could engage in, if any?

  If a person honestly looks at the claims that Jesus made, there are only three conclusions that a person can logically come to. He was the world's greatest Liar, Lunatic, or Lord. But a good man is not one of the options that Jesus left us with.

  There are no institutions that are not of man, is what I've come to realize.

  Really? How did you come to realize that? Surely, you have heard about a man who claimed to be God and stated publically that he would be murdered and that he would raise himself from the dead.... while he was dead. Then he did it.

  You are more likely than not going to be celebrating his birthday here in a few days along with several billion other people on the planet.

  Hip replacement on Monday. Wish me luck.

  as the title says i'm having a total hip replacement on monday.

  the pain has grown over the years and now i'm using a cane to walk.

  after steroid injections and physical therapy, it was decided that a total hip replacement is appropriate.

  Were we really meant to live forever?

  our capacity for adaptation (there's an official term somewhere) is apparently very vast.

  meaning that whatever is a novelty always becomes old news and apparently it happens very quickly.

  human beings in fact have to put a lot of effort into not discarding valuable things and relationships because of our overwhelming tendency to become incredibly used to it and just plain bored with them.

  If you believe you are a spiritual being having a human experience you will not fear death at all.

  @ carla - I think there is a lot to potentially fear.

  Scripture says that "it is appointed unto man once to die, and then judgment". - Hebrews 9: 7
  

  Thankfully, God took on human form and died in my place at Calvary Hill and I accepted the offer to be judged there for my sin, as opposed to the Great White Throne Judgment. There will be no vicarious punishment available for sin at the GWT.

  I have my personal safety guarantee on record from a man who publically stated that he would be killed and then he would resurrect himself from the dead, while he was dead. Then, he did it. So, I have a sound basis for my belief in not fearing death.

  He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. - Jesus recorded in John 3: 18

  @ Carla - Do you mind if I ask you what is the basis for your belief that you have nothing to fear after death?
